TANYA QUILLE, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist

About Me

I have worked as a psychologist since 1994, serving adolescents, adults, couples and families, and have provided supervision for other psychotherapists. I was on the research faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Division of Mental Health, and at the University of Miami School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry. I have experience in treating a diverse population with an understanding of the specific treatment issues of minority populations.

In my current practice I treat the following presenting problems:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Grief/loss
  • Family functioning/parenting/step-parenting/blended families
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (adults)
  • Gender Identity/Sexual Orientation
  • Self Esteem
  • Stress and coping
  • Management of chronic illness
  • Career problems—job related stress
  • Weight management/obesity and other disordered eating
  • Life-span developmental issues
  • Issues of aging

My Skills

I understand and apply the most up-to-date knowledge and techniques in the field of psychology to assist my patients.

I am trained in multiple evidence-based psychology practices (EBPPs): approaches that have been scientifically proven to be effective including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Additionally, I have co-authored several evidence-based (scientifically proven effective) treatment models.

I stay informed by the latest research in the field.

I constantly upgrade my skills with continuing education in the areas of psychology in which I practice.

My Commitment

My goal is to create a partnership in which the strengths and expertise of my client are supported by my own.

Although I have extensive training and continuously strive for excellence in the technical aspects of my work, I know that the connection and safety in the relationship that my clients and I create together is often the key to healing.

My Clinical Principles

I believe that the client should see the results of treatment within a reasonable amount of time and that I, as well as the client, am accountable for treatment outcome.

I help my clients to alleviate the problems and stress that brought them to therapy as quickly and efficiently as possible with as little financial burden as possible. If I can’t provide the optimum treatment for a client, it is my ethical responsibility to make a referral to someone else.

My Collaborative Approach

I work closely with psychiatrists when necessary, creating a treatment team for clients who are treated with psychotropic medications in conjunction with talk therapy.
